Swinging Dita Von Teese launches her lingerie range... with the help of a giant sequinned bra

She's more likely to be seen doing a twirl in a giant Martini glass.

But for the launch of her signature range for Wonderbra, Dita Von Teese tried on something little bigger for size - a giant padded bra.

Dita's elaborate routines have featured her riding crystal horses or dancing with strategically placed pink feathers.

But today dressed in a peach evening gown and heels, the world-renowned queen of burlesque launched her new line of vintage-inspired pieces from the cups of a huge sequinned bra in Covent Garden.

Wonderbra by Dita Von Teese is a combination of 1950s shapes and 1940s fabrics and is her first line of designed garments.

Von Teese used her fascination with vintage underwear, taking inspiration from her own collection, to help her designs.

The pieces include a mixture of suspenders, thongs and bras, which Von Teese says are so comfortable that she wears them regularly.

Vintage beauty: Dita took inspiration for the range from her own collection of vintage 1940s and 50s lingerie

She said: 'Every woman needs a little moment of beauty to have for herself.

'Underwear isn't just something that you put on for your lover - you wear it for you.'

She added: 'I love it when you can go about your daily business with the knowledge that you have a little secret of your own on underneath.

'Lingerie shouldn't be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you.

'It's not about seducing men, it's about embracing womanhood.'

The collection is available in stores across Europe from today.

Night at the opera for glamorous Dita von Teese

Burlesque star Dita von Teese embodied old Hollywood glamour last night as she emerged on the red carpet at Vienna's Opera Ball in a dazzling silver gown.

The performer's dramatic one-shoulder dress stole the spotlight, with her flawless alabaster skin, lashings of red lipstick and sparkling jewels completing the look.

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher also attended the event, turning heads in a strapless chocolate-coloured confection.

Von Teese attended the event as a guest of Austrian real estate and construction mogul Richard Lugner, 75, who has been escorted to the ball by a female celebrity every year since 1992.

Fabulous housewife: actress Teri Hatcher also attended the gala

Earlier this month, Entourage star Jeremy Piven as a sales assistant to help him choose two black satin, sequined mini-dresses from a boutique for von Teese in a bid to woo her over, according to reports.

While his spokesperson told the New York Post's Page Six the pair are "not dating," von Teese's lawyer, Keith Fink, reveals Piven coyly said hello to her when he ran into her at an LA newsstand right before he purchased the dresses.

Said Fink: "She is single, and she's not dating, so he should step up to the plate because there's a lot of guys interested."
